The introduction of the scene first starts us off at a room within the castle, where we can see King Claudius, Queen Gertrude, along with two newcomers, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. These newcomers are, in fact, old, distant friends of Hamlet whom were summoned by the king himself. The reasoning why would be do this is because his majesty had hoped that maybe these two could talk, spy, to Hamlet and help find out what 's going on with him. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were happy to be of service to the king; however it may be because of the reward that they were promised by the king, as total suck-ups tend to do. Once he had his answer, the king thanked to two, incorrectly in which Gertrude had to fix up, and they took their leave. Once they were done with their business, Polonius enters the room. The reasoning why would come would be because he believes that he has found the source of Hamlet 's madness. However, nothing would be revealed until the ambassadors, Voltimand and Cornelius, return. And so, they did, with news about their travel towards Norway. It turns out that all 's well that ends well, as Claudius was successful onto avoiding war with Norway. The king had taken the news seriously, thus promised to keep his nephew in check, and won 't plot to reclaim the lands his father lost in a bet. However, now they wish to go through their land in order invade Poland, but that’s for another day. Now that that’s over, they now began to focus their attention back on…
