In April of 1564, William Shakespeare was born and baptized. “William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, a bustling market town 100 miles northwest of London” (‘William Shakespeare’, www.History.com ). Shakespeare’s father had many occupations, some including farming, leatherwork and money lending. William was the third son of eight, however three of his sibling died during his early childhood. In 1582, at the age of 18 Shakespeare married his wife, Anne Hathaway, 26 at the time. Six months into their marriage, Hathaway gave birth to their first daughter, Susanna in 1583. By 1594, he was writing and acting for a prestigious troupe known as the “Lord Chamberlain’s Men.” Between the mid 1590’s and 1612, Shakespeare had retired and wrote some of his best-known plays; some names include: “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, and “Macbeth”.
