Life is influenced by a variety of different circumstances everyone faces. Various circumstances make a person unique, and give them their unique ability to influence other people or things. Writers have their unique style due to these life influences. When William Shakespeare wrote his play, As You Like It, his unique voice prevailed through out the entire play. No other writer could have expressed the vision the same way, because no other writer had experienced the same circumstances and therefore the same influences as Shakespeare. Many different factors, such as culture, biographical, and historical influences, affected the story of the As You Like It.

Shakespeare wrote the play with the intention of stealing audiences from other professional playwrights and play companies, and to strengthen his career (Bains 505). Shakespeare wrote the play in 1598, and it was prepared for stage by 1599 (505). Even though, As You Like It was written in 1598, there is no concrete evidence that the play was ever performed until 1740's, however it is likely that there were at least some performances (505). Although, there was no evidence from 1598 and 1740 of As You Like It being performed, if it was performed it can be concluded that it was not an instant success like many other Shakespeare plays. If it were an instant success one would assume some recorded evidence prior to 142 years after being written. On August 4th, 1600, As You Like It was added to Book C of the Stationers' Register (505). The Stationers' Company was the first company to be a copyright agency and it held the rights to As You Like It, and had the responsibility of owning and selling the play (Wagner "William Shakespeare"). The Stationers' Company allowed the play to be printed in 1623 in the First Folio, a book full of promptbooks and scripts (Bains 505). With that information, one can then deduct that the play was very unpopular during its beginning stages, because it took 25 years from the time it was written to the time that it was
