A windmill was the key to end starvation and get water. It could also produce electricity. This is where William got his passion for mechanics. He wanted to understand everything like “How does this work?” He wanted to build a windmill to provide electricity, which almost nobody in Malawi had. William also wanted to pump water out of the ground, which is called irrigation. To do all these things, he needed materials, and that was what William did not have, so he went to a scrapyard where a tractor fan, shock absorber, bicycle frame/generator, and PVC pipes were found. He used that materials to build a windmill while other people made fun of him. They jeered because the villagers did not think that he could succeed. When he did, the people were amazed.
William wanted to build a windmill so that he could create electricity and pump water, but that was not all his achievement. William left a legacy as The Wind Harnesser because he used what he had to save his country. William Kamkwamba changed the world as a boy architect who built a windmill to not only defeat starvation in Malawi, but to improve everyday life by providing the whole town with electricity. This shows that no matter what situation you’re in, you can succeed if you try hard
