Setting:
The story’s setting was in a densely tangled jungle on a Pacific Ocean island with a lagoon surrounded by palm trees. The story took place sometime in the mid 1950’s and mimicked the cold war and WWII. The atmosphere was a feeling of abandonment due to the crisis going on in England since the people felt as if the government had left them. He is the protagonist of the book and understood that all humans had a little evil inside. He had great leader qualities and was very civilized. He tried to hold discipline and order to the entire island. He also believed the fire was the most important thing on the Island while the others did not.
Physical traits: Blonde, built, and twelve years old.
Jack: He’s a very arrogant boy who then becomes a violent savage. He has a strong evil passion for killing/hunting. He craves power and creates fear inside others, like using the “Beastie” as a scare tactic. He is the Antagonist throughout the book and leader of the choirboys. He disobeys Ralph, like saying the conch rule only works on some parts of the island. He forms his own tribe where he becomes the overall leader of a viscous group and responsible for two murders.
Physical traits: Skinny, tall, red headed, blue eyes, and freckles.
Piggy: He represents technology and Civilization. He is the intellectual man of the group, but no one takes him seriously because of his appearance. Without his clever idea to ignite the fire with his glasses, the boys wouldn’t have been rescued. He represented the people that are overworked and not respected, like the peasants in England. A plane that was trying to evacuate got shot down over a deserted Island. On the island, Ralph and Piggy found a conch shell and sounded it until all the boys assembled. They soon decided that Ralph should be the leader and Jack would be in charge of the hunters. They decided to set up a signal fire with Piggy’s glasses. They accidently caused a forest fire and while doing this, one of the boys disappeared (assumed dead). One day the hunters let the signal fire burn out while a ship passed. Despite killing a pig, Ralph was still very angry because they missed the rescue ship. The littleuns started believing in the “Beast”, the boys to panic. One night, a parachute man fell from the sky, dead. By morning, Samneric believed the parachutist was the beast. The boys rushed to the mountain to hunt the beast but Ralph backed down. Later on, Jack rebels against Ralph and creates his own tribe of violence and hunting. Ralph nags the boys to keep the fire going but the boys are not concerned. Eventually, the boys slipped away from Ralph to join Jack’s tribe. Jack’s tribe placed the head of a pig on a stake and Simon believes it speaks to him. He faints, but when he wakes and goes to mountain to see the dead parachutist. He learns the truth of the Lord of Flies so he goes down to tell the boys what he had discovered. Jack’s group mistaken Simon as the beast and kills him. Jack’s raged out to steal Piggy’s glasses. Ralph’s group becomes
