William Augustus Hinton was born on December 15, 1833 in Chicago. His parents were Augustus Hinton and Mary Clark, her parents were slaves. Grew up in Kansas, after middle school he study at the University of Kansas Medical. He finish the program in two years and continued his studies at the University of Harvat and received his bachelor's degree there.
