Many experiences in my life have changed my views in multiple ways, but by far the most life changing experience has to be when I was elected Daingerfield District Vice-President for the FFA. This experience has broadened my comfort zone of shyness and unconfidence, and as the FFA Opening Ceremonies say, it brought me “into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and cooperation.” I finally began to realize after Greenhand Camp, my freshman year, that I might have a potential future in the FFA. Listening to our guest lecturers and being part of the nonprofit culture made me realize how much I want to be in this community environment where people are working together to better the world around them. Another reason why I feel that nonprofit is a fit for me is that the values align with public health work. The culture of partnerships and collaboration is strong in nonprofit organizations which are crucial to public health. As I mentioned before, nonprofit organizations are not motivated by monetary gain and participation is voluntary, allowing them to have increased trust and moral accountability. When working with vulnerable populations that are disadvantaged because of society, and when the health and lives of people are involved, moral accountability becomes even more…
