Will Treaty All my life I’ve hated the concept of reading, I would always say, “why would I read when I could just watch a movie?” I never liked it because it would make me so tired just staring at the pages, zoning out to the point where I would be thinking about something else entirely. I tried to solve this problem when I had to read for book reports back in high school. I used an audio book that I would find on youtube that I could follow the words of the book while he/she reads it on the screen. I found that this helped quite a bit. Then I would find myself dozing off just by the sound of the same voice reading similar words. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that reading just wasn’t going to happen. It wasn’t until I found this series …show more content…
The main character of this book was a little boy named Will Treaty. In the beginning of the series, he was aged at 12 years old. The setting of the book took place back in the medieval times; where archery, sorcery, and knights were the main focus. The books began with these 12-13 year old kids that were all orphans who grew up in a castle with the King. These kids would be raised there and eventually become apart of the community and the work force. They would become apprentices in a certain category, whether it was cooking, being a smith, being a knight, or a diplomatic officer (etc.). They would all go somewhere, and these “masters” of these apprentices would choose which apprentice they want depending on what skills they already have. Everybody knew what they already wanted to be when the day finally came which was called “placement day”. Everyone knew where they wanted to go, but the little boy named Will, wanted to be a knight but he knew his structured body was nowhere near the size a knight needed. Then just as the day finally came, he was chosen by a Ranger, which is considered the CIA of the king. Rangers were known for their ability to move without being seen, to shoot a bow and arrow 10x better then any opponent they face, and also have the intelligence of a …show more content…
Will and Horace for example, they have been best friends since they were little boys. The connection between these two is so powerful that they have their moments where they will fight, but like all best friends they make up and go on with their lives. They go on so many adventures where they would just nit pick at everything the other one does, and the things they do just make the readers laugh because John Flanagan ties a joke that is made in the 4th book with something that was said in the 1st book, so if you read all the books it actually becomes entertaining and

As the great Bob Dylan once said,” The times they are a-changin’.” Now, currently in the twenty-first century according to www,huffingtonpost.com,” There's overlap between the groups -- 28 percent of respondents did not read a book at all in the past year, while 25 percent read between one and five books, 15 percent read between six and ten books, 20 percent read between 11 and 50, and eight percent read more than 50.” This quote proves fewer and fewer people read books in today’s world. One might say the reason this being is because people either have audiobooks and are being read to, are too caught up in social media, electronics T.V.,...etc. And some might say they just do not care.…

I saw you posted that, but it was so long… I didn’t read it.” The Internet has destroyed my capacity for long-term memory, because my brain confidently assumes that “I can just look it up later.” Hours spent flitting through Google and Wiki-Wandering, enjoyable as they may be, have done nothing for my ability to sit down and read a quality source from start to finish. I lament my negligible concentration span, and my inability to just sit and read, for the only way I can really dive into a book anymore is if I shut off my phone, computer, and iPad; effectively quarantining myself from the temptation of the Internet.…

Unlike most kids out there my age I love to read. While most kids would rather watch a movie or a television show, just lock me in a room with a good book and I’ll be just fine. When I think of myself as a reader, as silly as it sounds I feel I relate to this cute hedgehog in many ways such as the way I approach reading, my process of reading and my participation in reading communities. When approaching something I am going to read I am extremely cautious about what I choose to pick up, like a hedgehog is careful to watch for predators when scurrying about in the forest. With the millions of books out there it can be overbearing when I can only choose one at a time to read.…
