While people may look at it as a possible publicity stunt, the actor has, what appears, to be a sensible head on his shoulders. He is seeing something in the world he does not like, and instead of saying there is nothing he can do, he may just step up and try to do something about it. That is kind of the point of politics, and with his name, he does have a big following already, which could be bad for his potential opponents.
Smith told CBS that while he had a goal of becoming the worlds biggest movie star, which he said he reached four years ago, it dawned on him that he was here for something more, something bigger. And what is bigger than President of the United States.
While many may look at Smith and question his qualifications, they need to be reminded of one Ronald Reagan. Yes, Reagan was governor of California prior to heading to the White House, but he had a long career in Hollywood. And Reagan did some historic things, one of which was bringing an end to the Cold War.
