Roald Dahl wrote a short story called Landlady. The story is a lesson that things that seem to good to be true usually are. A old innocent lady turned out to be a killer.
Dahl builds a sense of foreboding by drops little hints throughout the story.
Billy weaver is walking to the bell and dragon. He sees a bright sign that says bed and breakfast and decides to go there to check it out. He goes to the door and press the button. The author writes. "Normally you ring the bell and you have to wait a half-minutes wait before the door opens but this dame was like a jack-in-the-box he pressed the bell and she popped! It scared him." It weird because it's like she was luring him inside.
