People never really understand what will power is, until a study showed how it will help us in the long run.A man named Walter Mischel performed an experiments on 600 four year olds in the late 60s, the results were shocking. Some kids can have will power, depending on their environment, and what it will impact on their future. Will power plays a large role in success because of how well kids can behave with something to tempt them with.
Kids can have will power if trained at an early age.In the article, The Will power circuit , Walter Mischel put kids into a small room and gave them a marshmallow. “He then made an offer. She could either eat the marshmallow right away or, if…”(Lehrer). This experiment showed that 25% of the kids waited for the second marshmallow, while the rest ate it right away. “ ‘A few kids ate the marshmallow right away.’ Mischel told...”(Lehrer).
Though it also depends on the kid’s environment or where they are living. In the article, The Marshmallow Test, Revisted , a team …show more content…
“By their early 30s, their ability to manage attention predicted their financial success and their health…”(Goleman). It showed the ones who waited will be more successful than those who didn’t. “Some compromised by the usual suspects:Smartphones, TV, Etc.”(Goleman).That means that what they watch, listen to, or whatever could affect their will power.
Our kids can get will power or not, it just all depends on them.It also depends on their environment or whether they’ll be successful in their future. That’s just a ‘what if’ though, It just depends on how STRONG their will power is, it’s like the Marshmallow experiment.Do you think you got enough will power to resist
