“The accomplishment of an aim or purpose” defines the word success. Do you really need a good self-esteem to be successful? After many, many research that was done, I strongly believe that you need a good self-esteem for not only a healthy mindset, but also for success.
According to “Teaching Kids Self-Esteem”, the article shows parents how to build a good self-esteem with their kids. While reading the article, I had to put myself in my parents’ shoes and picture myself with a child. It is very hard to picture myself as a mom, especially at the age of seventeen. He uses his own life with his twin brother to reflect on how important it is to be mentally healthy. In his edpuzzle video, he brought up the word “rumination”. I was not familiar with the word, so I looked it up. The word “rumination” defines as when something bad happens to you, you keep thinking about it for days on end. Looking back on the times that I had never gotten healed from my mental wounds, I then figured out that I keep ruminating. When something horrific would happen to me, I would never stop thinking about it. I would visualize it in all different kinds of ways to the point where I would even dream about it. It would haunt me for days, weeks and sometimes even months. After Guy Winch explained how awful it is for us to ruminate, I immediately started practicing it. The problem and the negativity that was haunting me for months is now, finally, gone. All the negativity and the overwhelming thoughts was all in my head. A very miniture problem turned out to be so BIG in just a matter of days. After that, I got up and spread the word. After a couple of weeks, I got friends coming back and thanking me for helping them, and that is when I introduced them the Guy Winch edpuzzle video.
