Will County is located in the northern part of the state of Illinois and one of the five collar counties of the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Will County is served by four US Interstate Highways, four US Highways, and twelve Illinois Highways. Four different Metra commuter rail lines (Metra Electric Main Line, Southwest Service, Rock Island District and Heritage Corridor) connect the parts of the county with the Chicago Loop.

The I-355 Extension Corridor (I-55 to I-80) communities are working together to promote the area for new development in health care-related industries as well as destination-type shopping and entertainment. The South Suburban Airport (SSA) presents solid opportunities for industrial, commercial, and residential development. Exports are a growing part of Will County, especially in manufacturing and agriculture. The Illiana Expressway, proposed to connect I-65 in Indiana to I-55 in Will County, IL would enhance access to Will County’s Inland Port. Both the SSA and the Illiana now have the ability to be developed using a Public-Private Partnership (P3), an innovative families, and best places for homeownership.
