Overall, I enjoyed certain parts of the book, but certainly not all. I did not enjoy reading the technical information about farming and all the techniques involved. It did not interest me and I found myself just skimming through these sections. However, I absolutely loved reading about each character’s lives. The story behind each character surprised me and I found them all intriguing. Each character has gone through so much, and Growing Power’s effects on people very much surprised me. With that being said, I would not have read this book if it hadn't been required for class. He was constantly being told “no” and having steep financial issues, but he ended up being widely successful. However, this story is a good example that hard work takes much longer to pay off than what one would think. It was nearly 12 years later, before, in my opinion, he was well off and greatly successful. But, he is not stopping now; he is continuing to have more goals and striving to be better. Will will never be happy without a challenge or goal to improve. When he spoke of what he saw a decade from now in Milwaukee, he showed just how ambitious he really is.
