Five second may not seem like a very long time, but it is an eternity in the normal give and take of a conversation. Imagine a kindergartner or even a teenager waiting for you to respond. Throughout my life I have had many obstacles in my way from when I was very little to where I am now.
When I was in elementary school, I had speech problems. It was really difficult for people to understand me. It took a lot of speech therapy to help me even remotely get better. Going to each session was so frustrating and occasionally I would get angry and sad, because part of it was I felt bad that I was so different from everybody else.
