Wildlife Officer Research Paper

For those of you that hunt, have you ever thought about the people that make sure you are doing what you are supposed to be doing? Who drive around at all hours of the day, in very bad weather, blow freezing and in weather over 100 degrees. A Wildlife officer enforces game, fish, and boating laws. They can issue warnings or citations. They also can determine how to dispose of illegal things being used while fishing , hunting or boating. Depending on the area they are located they may have to go by vehicle , boat , plane , horse or foot. Wildlife officers can serve a warrant or even make an arrest. If that happens they have to collect evidence to prove in court. Wildlife officers are also involved in a lot of undercover operations if they things there is illegal hunting or fishing happening. Wildlife officers also investigate hunting accidents and help in search and rescue. If there is a report of damage by wildlife they are who goes out and check things out. They also manage hunter education programs, they also go to local schools and speak to that they can express how important is to to hunt safely. They spend most of their time outdoors in all kind of weather. They are exposed to mosquitoes and other kinds of insects. As any other law enforcement career, being a wildlife officer can be dangerous. Wardens normally patrol alone and in areas there isn’t a lot of service with minimal backup. They carry a firearm for protection. They may come across dangerous individuals and aggressive animals. Wildlife officers may be required to work evenings , weekend and holiday shifts. In North Carolina the average pay is around $50,980 a year.
