People may argue that they are unpredictable and that other methods should be used, but they are called controlled burns for a reason. The benefits range from minimizing the spread of insects and disease to preventing future more dangerous wildfires. Controlled fires help protect us and benefit nature at the same time.

According to the US Forest Service, controlled fires help reduce a number of potential dangers in the future. They reduce the amount of hazardous fuels, reducing the chance for extreme fires to happen. Additionally, they minimize the spread of pest insects and disease
