I will be talking about what to do before, during, and after a wildfire. Fire safety is very important to know about and how to handle fire. I was once in a fire when I was about 5 at my house. It was a grease fire and it happened when my family was cooking, but instead of being scared my dad was calm and we went to the neighbors. Then my dad called the fire department and my mom. So fire cations is not only good, but it can save your life that is why I am excited to talk about fire safety. Wildfires sometimes kill a lot of people that is why you should try to do these helpful tips to save your life.
Some of these cautions you should do before a wildfire. Before a wildfire you should create defensible space to separate your home from flammable vegetation and materials about 50 feet from your home. Try to keep all trees and shrub limbs trimmed so they do not overhang your chimney and your house. If you have fires around your house or a wood furnace then stack all your wood from your home and other buildings. Clean chimneys and maintain spark arresters twice a year. When a wildfire is in motion you should turn on a battery operated radio to get latest emergency information. If you have a ladder to try to prop it against your house so you and firefighters can get onto the roof. Turn on a light in each room in your house for visibility incase smoke gets in your house. Close all doors and windows, but make sure not to lock them. Open or take down flammable drape and curtains. Move all your upholstered furniture away from windows and sliding glass doors. Turn off air conditioning/air circulation systems and back your car and leave the keys in the ignition. Be ready to leave immediately and evacuate all family members and pets when told to do so. Get your whole family first, but if possible, save your pets
