Within Wilbur’s Total Beverage company, there were two problems that we noticed after conducting the interview. The two problems were the lack of technology that was used to account for the new inventory that was coming into the back-end and the individual, over-aged employee that makes delivery stops to individuals’ houses. Two recommended solutions to address these problems is implementing an integrated system of receiving, inventory, and order management, and hiring an additional, ideally younger delivery person to have additional shifts for personal alcohol delivery. Wilbur’s Total Beverage accounts for incoming inventory manually, with an employee marking incoming shipments. This inventory management process creates a bottleneck in their …show more content…
They are one of three liquor stores in the Fort Collins area that offer this service. One way they could differentiate themselves from the competition in this market would be to hire another possibly younger delivery driver who could work later and more shifts, thereby increasing their capacity in this sector. With Wilbur’s sheer size and variety of product options, an improved delivery service would undoubtedly increase their profits and make them the local market leader for on-demand alcoholic beverages. Mat Dinsmore mentioned that he hired Victor based primarily on his age, because he would strictly and consistently check I.D. upon delivery, whereas a younger man might show some leniency particularly toward younger women and this would create the potential for a dire problem, as Wilbur’s caters to a market consisting of 60% women. Victor has also reportedly crashed the delivery truck into a few parked cars. Hiring a driver ideally aged between thirty and forty years old would likely reduce the risk of auto collisions like this, saving Wilbur’s cost to fix or replace the damaged vehicles while simultaneously increasing their capacity to deliver. If having an elderly person deliver to women is Wilbur’s priority, they could split up the product types delivered by each driver, with Victor driving the products more heavily demanded by women, and their new hire driving products more commonly demanded …show more content…

Through a good relationship with their suppliers, Wilbur’s is able to offer a wide selection of products for their customers.
