Wiglaf's Death In The Epic Of Beowulf

The death of the dragon by the hand of Beowulf and Wiglaf was justified and was for the greater good. Although many people would consider it as being a “wrong action”, he was doing it for the better being of his people and the financial state of his country. Back then it was important for the King to leave his people with some sort of financial stability and it also determined whether or not he was a good King. Beowulf was entitled to kill the dragon because he wanted to leave his country financially stable. The fact of the matter is that soon Beowulf becomes the target and his throne- hall too. The dragon targets him with his fiery breath and burns it to the ground. All the reader can think of is feeling Beowulf’s pain, suffering as the fire touches his skin, smelling the roasting of his skin and seeing this great king not backing out of this fight. Although Beowulf was wondering how could he ever deserve a punishment like this! Beowulf does not give up, although he did not have to to assemble a huge army Beowulf lets God and fate decide his destiny. …show more content…
This shows that Wiglaf is not an accessory to murder and that back then it was right for Wiglaf to finish off a fight as a warrior. Nowadays their is a law called The Good Samaritan law that states that if you see a wrongful act or a person in need of help you can ask and help them out without being tied to murder and without you being
