Incidentally, there is not much current research to be found on combating the failing enrollment of the US WIC Program. Professor Carolyn Barnes does mention in her studies that she discovered that the leading cause for pregnant women not enrolling in the WIC Program was; they thought they did not qualify. The second reason was; mother did not perceive that they needed WIC after the child reaches a year old and no longer needed formula. Surely, more outreach efforts can educate the public on eligibility for WIC so that people would readily know who may or may not qualify without guessing. The other issues would continue to be a work in progress.
