Is The Glass Half Full Or Half Empty Essay

"Is the glass half full or half empty?" This quote is a popular saying that goes on between situations and how we take care of them. It 's common for an optimistic to believe in positivity regardless of the hardship that 's forced in his or her way. However, a pessimistic way is always ignoring any positivity and looks only at the negative outlooks. That being said, an optimistic would believe in the glass being half full and a pessimistic would look at it as half empty. There is another outlook to this quote and that would be to just refill the cup. This would be having a balance of both optimism and pessimism.

A voice came on the intercom, but nothing registered except the fear for the worse. What if we crashed? How would my family feel? Did I make the right choice? These horrible thoughts crossed my mind and I could not seem to get them out of the way. I had to be strong, but my pessimistic side was being horrible. I could feel the plane moving quickly to prepare for the takeoff and I swore my knuckles were whiter than they ever have been. My head began to grow lightheaded and you could almost hear the popping of ears. The anxiety was growing throughout my body, and it was clashing with excitement. The fear of never stepping back on the ground, or crashing on a deserted island filled my head with ridiculous thoughts. "What will it be for you today, ma 'am?" Was the exact question that had lingered in my head. There was a strong desire to win the lottery, as I directed my finger to which Powerball card I wanted and he nodded as he collected my cash. Another dollar wasted on a false hope, I exclaimed, but maybe today would be the day. The mixture of feeling both optimistic and pessimistic clashed inside my head. The thought of being able to win and help my mother had crossed with thoughts of the loss of a dollar. Nevertheless, I took the card as I did a secret prayer to myself in full hope trying to ignore those awful thoughts of reality not being as easy. This is a balance of having equal sides. It tells us the idea is wrong and likely will not happen, but the positivity lingers
