Why Writing Is Important

All throughout school you have to write and from personal experience not a lot of my classmates enjoy this. We all do a unanimous sigh and then try to fudge some paper the teacher wants us to write. This was easy to do up until about 11th grade. In 11th grade we had the SAT-the SAT WILL be the biggest waste of your life. We had to do so many practice essays for that and they were graded on the SAT scale and they were graded by a computer. I don't know if you know this but trying to beat a computer is a lot harder to do than beating a teacher. This all lead up to taking the SAT which was an excruciatingly long test, 3 hours and 50 minutes to be exact, and it did nothing but give you a score you had to publicly share with colleges you want to go to. I didn't really realize the importance writing had and how much I”d need to use it in real life. This past year i have learned some of my writing strengths and weaknesses but I know them now which is a couple steps higher than last year which marks improvement. I’m going to share with you some of the reasons why writing is important in the real world. …show more content…
Money is a huge part of the real world and to get money you need a job. According to Luiza Costa Ribeiro in the article she published she states that “According to most corporate leaders, employees who are skilled in writing are the most likely to be promoted and the least likely to be outsourced or eliminated.” she continues by saying “More than 90 percent of mid-career professionals recently cited the ‘need to write effectively’ as a skill of ‘great importance’ in their day-to-day work.” I don't know about you but if I knew I couldn't write and I was worried about losing my job Because they'll find someone else to replace me who can write I would be freaking out wishing that I had payed attention better in school when they taught us about

In this article “Why Johnny can’t write, and why employers are mad,” I learned that for able to get a well job you have to be able to write and communicate effectively so that people from outside of your company can understand what you are trying to tell them. Also, so that they won’t get pissed or leave your company for a lack of writing and communication with them. You could also, lose money because you don’t have enough people to help your business grow because of your lack of communication and writing skills. For example; in the article” Why Johnny can’t write, and why employers are mad” states that “You can be the smartest person here, but if you can’t convince the portfolio managers to buy what you’re selling, you won’t be successful. ”-…

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

What writing means to me and why I prefer to shy away from it, until now. Being an Adult Learner, having been out of school for more than 30 years my weaknesses outweigh my strengths. My greatest weakness in writing, I would have to say is my spelling and use of grammar. I have recently been diagnosed with a slight learning disability which explains my problems with spelling and grammar. Having 4 children who I am very close too helps alleviate a huge portion of my inhibitions about writing, that combined with the newer technologies of programs like MS Word and other programs like it that have spell and grammar check help me in my daily writing needs.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

As a student teacher, I would recommend students like me to get help with writing problems early. I still get help when it comes down to writing an essay. I’m also still learning how to be a better writer. When I think about writing, I always think about English classes doing most of the writing but writing is essential in every subject. I label myself as not being a writer but someday it’s going to be my duty to teach others to be.…

Why writing is important Good writing is one of the key elements of civilization. It can be used to form governments, create stories, and argue points. There is not a part of society that is not influenced by the written word. For an author to be able to compose a piece of writing, they must have a deep connection with what they are writing about, they must be able to convey what they mean through words, and must completely believe in what they are writing.…

Writing does not come easily to everyone. No one starts out writing perfect essays, and everyone has areas where they need improvement. It takes many different skills, time, and a lot of revision. High school writing is much different from college writing, and with the help from the article “What Is Academic Writing?” by L. Lennie Irvin and chapter one in “From Inquiry to Academic Writing” it is easier to understand what academic writing is about and how it works.…

Writing is a tool. Like a hammer you use to put nails into walls, or a dart you use to hit the bullseye, a pen or a computer can be utilized for convenience, or like a knife used to kill, it can be used as a weapon. Of the many uses of writing, I believe the most effective is when it’s being used as a tool to communicate with people. I once had the misfortune of coming across a person on the internet who didn’t believe that people with autism should be allowed to be in romantic relationships with people without autism. This person, whom I shall refer to as Sally, wrote that autistic people were mentally deficient and therefore not mature or intelligent enough to ever find love.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
