Studies have shown that women are more likely to report sexual harassment ten times more often after deployment. Women are more likely to endure sexual harassment since it is hard for men to resist the temptation, since they are not around women for a long period while on duty. Additionally, Serrano explains the multitudes of harassment taking place in the military. Women in combat work forces are more likely to be harassed because of the closed-in environments with men and other women. Finally, training women receive is rigorous, and it is not uncommon for women to go home with many health complications. Serrano concludes, females should take jobs such as human resources, journalism, or alternatives, but U.S. Infantry should be off-limits.…

I do, and that issue is still going on today. “Why Marines, Unlike Army and Navy, Are So Against Women in Combat” by Anna Malrine speaks of the injustice and sexist attitudes portrayed by the Marin Corps in recent discussions. Malrine is honest when she speaks of the wrongful attitudes toward women in this article, women in combat could help our marines not hurt them, women can help have a different mindset, open up areas that men can not fit in, and work with the women of the world.…

The author of the essay, “Military Women in Combat, Why Making It Official Matters”, Jena McGregor starts right off by telling you the topic she will cover. She starts the essay with the sentence, “It’s been a big couple of weeks for women in the military” to draw in her audience by leaving them intrigued from something that hasn’t changed in years. After using that sentence to catch the audience’s attention, she then states, “Last week, female soldiers began formally moving into jobs in previously all-male battalions, a program that will later go Army-wide” as a strong thesis. McGregor goes on to talk about how many jobs have opened to women in the military by the rules getting changed. Although she adds this huge fact she also added how…

The women who argue to be able to serve in combat are not acknowledging the danger it puts themselves and the United States Military in. In the article,“Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S Infantry.”, Serrano expresses that if they allowed women to serve in combat during her service in the military, anyone including herself would have jumped at the opportunity because of the novelty, excitement, and challenge; but, her views have changed with the experience and knowledge she has gained. Everyone needs to accept the fact that women are different, not only physically, but all around. It will only destroy the mission of the services (Para. 1). Also, allowing women to serve in infantry will cause enormous amounts of distractions.…

They are too sensitive at times, distracting, and they give birth to the children. These are only a few of the arguments used to justify why women would not be as useful in the army. Men use war to prove how masculine they are and by adding women to the equation it would make it harder for them to do that. Even women being nurses during war wasn’t acceptable at first, until all the male nurses were called to fight in war. (Paul Schue Lecture).…

Women in combat. It has recently sparked a debate on whether women should be allowed in combat or not. In my opinion, women shouldn’t be allowed in combat because they are too emotional to handle the long periods of time of being on tour, they aren’t physically built like men, and there would be too many problems with having men and women living together. Women are way too emotional to withstand being in combat. They wouldn’t be able to handle the 100+ degree temperatures, the stress of being away from their families for long periods of time, and they wouldn’t be able to handle being shot at all the time.…

“ Women are qualified for war. They would just have to work that much harder to be able to meet that goal. They would have to carry 100 pounds on their backs and would have to be able to go across the landscape with all this gair and are known to most likely not make it. Women are often great shooters but cant carry 50-80 pounds on them and is much harder on women to carry this amount of weight even with men carry more weight” (Westernjournalism) No girl can just go to war and expect to be able to do everything the boys can do.…

In the passage “Policy: Women in combat” the author talks about reasons why women can not and should not be in combat positions. However, in the lines of these two things seemed to be blurred rather than concrete. The passage gave an example of articles that emphasize this belief. They gave the article that former senator of virginia wrote which was a clear outline of common reasons as to why women should not be in combat. Some of the reasons he listed is as follows: that the fact women can get pregnant is seen as a weakness, that physically and emotionally they are not strong enough, and finally that they would distract the soldiers from the task at hand.…

women can suffer more severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Women who serve also run the risk of getting sexually assaulted while in the same living quarters as males can have ptsd worse. “ For one, psychologists have found that women who experienced sexual harassment or trauma before or during their military service are more likely to suffer post-traumatic stress disorder than those who were not sexually traumatized.” ( Munsey 3 ) This is saying that women who get sexually assaulted can suffer PTSD more than if they were deployed but still have the risk of PTSD while deployed.…

Not only for the soldiers, but also for the leaders of the nations, children, and non-military member women. Of course, soldiers have something to fear they are participating in combat, and the leaders of the government fear losing their positions. Children don’t understand war, so what child wouldn’t be afraid of dying, losing a loved one or being a teenager drafted to war. Those are all difficult things to deal with, but women have to deal with that and more. When soldiers from foreign lands arrive, women fear getting raped.…
