Women In The Military
Why should women be allowed in the military? Starting almost 3,000 years ago, women have played many different roles in serving our country. Although it has been the majority of men in combat, women have still played a part. In the Civil War, there were even women who cross-dressed as men so they could fight. Cross-dressing was not the only way women found their way into war, some also served as medical aid being nurses. Regardless of women’s various yet limited, past positions in armies, the role of women in the military, especially in combat, has become very controversial and only recently have women started to be given a more prominent role in contemporary armed forces. As increasing numbers of countries begin to expand the role of women in their militaries, the debate continues. Women have proven successful in the past for fighting in the military, and they will continue to prove themselves capable of serving our country.

Men and women obviously think differently, and when making crucial decisions such as those in war, diverse perspectives are highly beneficial. When one is writing a paper, for example, one gets so used to rereading it that the flaws become unnoticeable. The army is clearly not only about physical strength, therefore mental strength that women can bring to the table can be highly

Women deserve more respect. For quite some time now, women have been participating in the military, which, of course, originally only allowed men. Throughout the years of their participation, women have demonstrated that they are just as competent as their male counterparts. Last year was a particularly significant year for female soldiers as they were finally allowed to move into battalions that were formerly all male. Jena McGregor, a writer for the Washington Post, wrote her thoughts on this historical achievement for women in her piece “Military Women in Combat: Why making it Official Matters.”…

They are too sensitive at times, distracting, and they give birth to the children. These are only a few of the arguments used to justify why women would not be as useful in the army. Even women being nurses during war wasn’t acceptable at first, until all the male nurses were called to fight in war. (Paul Schue Lecture).…

Women in combat. It has recently sparked a debate on whether women should be allowed in combat or not. In my opinion, women shouldn’t be allowed in combat because they are too emotional to handle the long periods of time of being on tour, they aren’t physically built like men, and there would be too many problems with having men and women living together. Women are way too emotional to withstand being in combat. They wouldn’t be able to handle the 100+ degree temperatures, the stress of being away from their families for long periods of time, and they wouldn’t be able to handle being shot at all the time.…
