Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 I did my observation of Paul Dunbar Middle School. Some of the first things I noticed when I entered the school was how enormous the school’s population is and how the school was mostly Hispanic and African American students. I arrived at the front desk and was asked by the assistant principal what was my preference of classroom. She then proceeded to take me the section of the school where the ESE classes are held. ESE stands for exceptional student education classes.…
I think that it is excellent that the teacher incorporate Spanish into her lessons and when she would gave directions. For example, the homework would be in English and if any student was not quite understand she would read it to them in Spanish. They would also ask question in Spanish and at times the teacher would answer in Spanish, other time she would answer in English. However, I…

In “Have Today’s Schools failed Male Students?” author Patricia Dalton debate about the subject whether today’s school have failed male students. Standing on a point of psychologist, she has experience of being a mother of two daughters and a son, she was able to give out a lot of evidence about how people neglect the needs of boys. She has shown that for so many years, people tend to distinguish the way to treat boys and girls. People treat boys and girls differently and tend to pay more attention to girls than boys.…
Some of my favorite foods are La Tropicana’s famous Cuban sandwich. I also like Cuban toast and Spanish bean soup. Hispanics and Latino Americans have and are still influencing the United States. They influence all areas such as: Politics, History, Education, Business, and Food.…
Feminization of Teaching Why Men Left but Women Stayed Teaching is one of the oldest profession known to mankind. Everyone has been taught in some form. Children are taught to walk and talk; teenagers and adults are taught a trade. Everyone is a learner, and everyone is an educator. There is the unregulated school of life and there is the formal school that millions of children in the United States attend each day.…
A quote from political commentator and lobbyist Monica Crowley states, “True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity - or political ideology.” The controversial debate of the advantages and disadvantages of same-sex and co-educated classes are common amongst schools, but everyone wants to know what is best for the school and their students. Some studies show that test scores go up when students are surrounded only by students of their gender. Even though this is the case, what schools need to focus on is the negative impact that it gives on the young, developing minds that are not completely introduced to the opposite sex. The result of same-sex classrooms silently encourages…
And Still We Rise by Miles Corwin 1) In this book there was two teachers, Toni Little and Anita Moultrie. These two teachers had different styles of teaching their class. One way of teaching that really popped out at me was how Toni assigned an essay to the class to see the difference in writing of the student. This way she would be able to see which students were dedicated to school or which ones where just there to be there and not even pay attention.…
In the 1700’s the level of women’s education in colonial America was immensely dependent on race class and location. The main purpose of education for women in the Colonial Time was to learn how to become skilled at household duties. These household duties were meant to assist the young woman in finding a suitable husband.…
In ongoing discussions of women’s role in music, a controversial issue has been whether women should be more represented in music textbooks. On the one hand, some argue that women haven’t made enough significant contributions to music to warrant being prominent in textbooks and literature . On the other hand, some argue that it would be inaccurate to portray women in textbooks as it wouldn’t have been seen as important at the time . A final viewpoint, suggest that women have made significant contributions and innovations in music and should thus be more prominent in textbooks and literature . Anyone familiar with history in general has long known that women had no right and were seen as less equal to men.…
It is a popular belief that schools segregated by gender would improve the overall intelligence of the two gender binaries, however there is not enough evidence to support this [accusation]. In The Gender Gap at School David Brooks argues that gender segregated schools would cause a substantial improvement among male students’ success in receiving education. He claims that boys enjoy lower intellectual books than girls due to difference in how the brain works. This idea is supported by a survey between 400 women and 500 men, where the men preferred to read the books like Catcher in the Rye and Slaughterhouse-Five, women read Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. Brooks says that boys have trouble processing negative emotions compared to girls,…
In the past, the main focus of educators was to make sure that their students subject grades and scores met the education standards requires of them to complete school. However, in the twenty-first century, there has been a major focus on creating equity in the classroom and better teaching strategies that cater for all student. Professors have higher academic rank and qualifications then teachers. A teacher educates students from elementary through high school. Although they both educate students, their style of teaching, structuring the class and qualifications are different. They both have a different goal towards their students. As for high school teachers, their goal is for students to be prepared for college and postsecondary professor goals are to prepare us for the real world.…
Women And Equality In The Workplace Gender Equality is the most common issue which has come across at the workplace in which women are treated inferior than the other men employees. It has been noticed than women are being paid less than men, and there is a male-dominant crowd in the workplaces. For no reason women are set apart when they are equally intelligent as men. It is very casual that women are also capable of doing a particular job as men. Gender discrimination in workplaces are fallacious assumptions and must be stopped because women are just as productive as a male employee is in doing an allotted task.…
