Where the slaves came from. Slaves mainly came from in and around Nigeria, when slavery just started taking flight the Portuguese would go into Africa and capture the slaves themselves. But soon after that other tribes in Nigeria would capture the people from other communities and trade them off to the slave traders for goods such as weapons and food. Race split us up into different sections as people, each having a different hierarchy with the europeans (whites) at the top. Because the Africans (black) were “inferior” to the Europeans (whites) they were treated much differently, and therefore they thought it was okay to enslave the blacks. Even after slavery was abolished there was still lots of racism, which isn't right. In the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence is states “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” But the declaration must have been lying because they did not treat African americans right, They did not let them have the three “unalienable rights” that they were supposably “born with” and they certainly did not treat them like they were created
