Walmart’s motto is “Save money. Live better.” and that is true because their customers are able to live better since they save money by buying low cost products at walmart. These low priced products are meant to help consumers by meeting their demands. In addition, Walmart employs a large amount of Americans and gives them the opportunity to climb to a higher position as well as they do not discriminate. Walmart shouldn’t be regulated because it provides low priced products to the working class of America and offers countless jobs. Not only does walmart offer low prices, but it employs a large amount of people. It employs 1.4 million Americans alone, which is 1 percent of the American working class. This helps the economy by creating many jobs. Walmart also provides the opportunity to move up in positions to every employee as 70 percent of the employees with managerial staff positions …show more content…
Sam Walton’s, the founder of walmart, humble beginnings is part of the reason for low prices since he grew up during the depression and wanted to help people. In addition, their slogan advocates low prices and that is what the people demand. Low prices are designed to help the consumers and even though in 2012 they experienced a profit loss, they lowered their prices more to attract more consumers. Low prices aren’t monopolistic because they aren’t taking advantage if the consumer but instead they are helping them by meeting their demand. Walmart has been criticized for hurting local competitors and placing a barrier on entry because of their low prices. It’s hard for Walmart's competitors to compete with their low prices but the benefits to the consumers outweigh the negative consequences that come with it. Monopolies usually charge high prices because they are the only supplier but Walmart isn’t the only supplier in their field and their low prices allow them to be one of the
