Why We Should Require Mandatory Community Service

The controversy is whether or not the United States should require all adult citizens to perform one year of community service by the age of 30. There are many different views on this subject but, my position in this arguement is that I believe that being in the service should be your own decision. You should not have to force someone to do something that they are not comfortable in doing. Mandatory service goes against our constitutional rights. You can't turn generosity into an obligation. That is un-American. One reason I believe that yuor should not require mandatory service is that it would injure the growing trend of volunteering in America today. Some perople have busy lives with their families, kids,school,and job to have time to sit everything aside and volunteer.Required service takes away the value of the generosity. Volunteering comes from the heart and should not be dictated to anyone. Someone who is obligated to do something that they do not want to do has a less chance of completing it the right way rather than someone who is willing. Another reason we should not have madatory service is because it causes logic problems. The organization of it all would become the governments responsibility, so how would they be assured that all citizens have completed the service? Some services require training amd if perople end up in a position that they are not able to do the training or are not trained well enough, they could be at risk of hurting themselves and others.
