Why We Should Polar Bears Be Conserved

The polar bears are a fascinating species that are able to survive under extreme conditions that most animals would not be able to live in. By the end of the century, two-thirds of the world’s polar bear population could disappear. The polar bear population should be conserved. Polar bears are endangered due to global warming or Earth’s change in climate. Another key role in their endangerment is pollutants that are toxic and damaging to a polar bear’s body. A big cause is illegal hunting, where hunters go pass the limit of polar bears that is allowed. The overheating of Earth’s atmosphere is dangerous for the polar bears’ habitat. The Arctic ice is being melted a lot faster and forms a lot slower due to the change in the climate According to Polar Bear International, “ Polar bears depend on sea ice as a platform from which to hunt seals, rest and breed… sea ice has been decreasing in size and melting for longer periods of time.” Polar bears rely a lot on the Arctic ice for means of survival. Some reasons they believe this is because there are laws that allow hunting and in some places the polar bear population is kind of high. The WWF did state “The general status of polar bears is currently stable…” but the quote does go on to say “... Though, there are differences.” This quote states that even though there are still regions where the polar bear population is not entirely endangered, there are still other places that contain harmful aspects for the polar bears. The polar bears do get endangered because of the things that the human race does for development and their own good.
