Why We Should Not Take Homework

Schools should not give homework

It's a monday. I come home after school at around 3: 00, and sit on my kitchen table. I start to do my homework, when my phone goes off. I then check the time and it's 7:30. My mom asks are you done with you homework and i say yes to save myself from getting my ear drums popped from my mom yelling.
I think school should not give homework because i don't like it, i sometimes forget to do it, and i have other things to do like sports or cleaning. I don't like doing it because it gets stressful at sometimes. Either it gets to hard and i can't figure out how to do it or it just doesn't make any sense. Stress is a very big thing in high school. The meaning of stress is pressure or tension exerted on a material object. Stress can cause lots of problems for a student, like maybe problems at home and sports and problems at school plus all the

Or mostly i forget. I'm so focused on doing a specific thing, when i finish it's already really late. Then this goes back to stress. There is so much to do that a forget and there is more stress on my shoulders. And if you forget what you learned that day and the notes don't make sense to you and you forget how to do it.
What if you have after school clubs or sports you have to attend. And then you have to workout for the sport you play to keep in shape. And you also need to clean the house when you get home. And you have to do all you homework before 9:00. That is almost impossible to do with all that work. What if you have a job to do and your shift is from 4 to 7:30. Then you have to do all you homework that will take at least 2 hours. All the reasons i listed all fall back to stress. The more things you have planned after school or something at home or work or sports, all that plus homework you will have almost everyday is just too much. Your brain will have to much to think about you will eventually give up and you mood or the way you feel you will go through

First year survival guide actually made me feel more comfortable with the way that my placement has been going. There were times that I was worried about my skill in classroom management but after reading the article I think that I have been doing at least on par and have been reacting in the right way. The article itself was a great read, I agree with a lot of what I had read. On the other hand there were some things that I believe don’t remain are not as relevant anymore. There were section titles that grabbed my attention immediately: Planning, Organization, The System, and Coping with stress.…

When undergoing stressful situations, as Dr. Daniel Goleman put it, it “makes us stupid.” It shuts down the area of the brain responsible for thinking, the prefrontal cortex, in order to focus on surviving the situation. However, in modern times, life or death situations don’t come up all that often, so shutting down the prefrontal cortex doesn’t really do much good. In the often-stressed student, this means that much of their work is done with a brain that is functioning on subpar levels. Not only this, but chronic stress winds up killing brain cells and shrinking the parts of the brain needed for thinking and learning, like the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex.…

Boot Camp Waking up for a grueling day of school is something that I hate doing every morning. Hearing an alarm blare in my ear for what seems to be twenty minutes straight is not of what I want my mornings to consist. The process of waking up, showering and getting dressed, being engaged during school hours, and finishing homework when I get home is beyond energy draining. I often contemplate whether or not I want to put myself through this “boot camp” of a day. A normal school day for me is full of many tears, broken pencils, and ripped pages; however, I still manage to man up, wipe away my tears, and get the job done every day.…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

Students get up early, get ready for school, then are at school for seven hours; they then have after school sports, jobs, and homework. Homework overload is one of the bigger problems with the system. When I was in ninth and tenth grade, I would come home with 2-3 hours of homework. I struggled with keeping up my grades and staying focused on my homework. I would get distracted because it was hard to stay focused on something for so long, especially when it was something I didn’t enjoy.…
