Why We Should Not Have Homework

Decent Essays
I believe that we should not have homework from now until Christmas because we will have more studying time, We will have more holiday activity time, and we will be rewarded for working.

Most importantly I think we should not have homework because. We can have more time to study for tests. We can learn what we are learning better than just learning it right away. We can have more time to make flash cards or take notes. Instead of cramming we can take our time.

The other reason i think we should not have homework until Christmas is we will have more holiday activity time. For example we can set our Christmas tree, put ornaments on our tree, bake Christmas cookies, decorate our house etc.

Lastly, we will be rewarded for working hard

First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

How could we possibly have homework everyday until Christmas Break because we can have stress, have to do a lot of chores, and doing hard work all week. Most important chores, if you have a lot of chores to do it can waste a lot of time, until you do your homework. If you have to organize the hole house it can take hours until you do you homework. If you go to the store to buy your mom specific type of food it can take probably take you 50 mins or an hour until you find that specific type of food. If you have to do clean the back yard and take out the trash that can cause time so you wouldn’t have enough time to do your homework sometimes.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

Remember the nights when you came home and had worksheet after worksheet to complete for the next day? Sheets full of pointless questions sitting before you while you pondered why in the world your teacher assigned this waste of time. Over the past half century, researchers and academic professors have tried to discover the lingering question of homework’s effectiveness with students’ academic achievements. Most people would agree that more homework would be a less than desirable, but if we started schools later students would pay more attention and if students payed more attention in class then maybe less homework would be assigned because they would have already covered it in class. Often times when students complain about homework teachers state that if they had paid more attention during class that we would have less homework and maybe they are right. Teachers can not exactly give us all the material in their allotted time if the students are being distracting and loud; Therefore they have to make up for the time with…

Teachers have a tendency to pile on homework thinking that it will benefit them in their class, but that is not always the case. If these students were to be limited to the recommended measure of assignments the more likely they are succeed to in their classes and earn higher grades. Homework can hurt the students when they do not understand what is being taught. Many do a significant amount of take home work every night, but they never are able to understand it to their fullest potential if they cannot ask their teacher a question in class. When students are given the opportunity to ask questions on homework in class the more likely they are to understand their material and succeed.…

Homework was intended to help and can help some students. Homework can help students practice the work they did in class. If students do not comprehend the material or are not taught well enough then homework can help them understand and learn how to do the work. Homework can help students to be closer with their parents if their parents help them with their homework. Homework, while not being completely necessary, does have some benefits for some students, but homework could make so many students lives harder and more…

Eliminating homework allows students the reward of free time and the invaluable time spent with family. Homework creates unnecessary stress and strain for parents and students alike. There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…

With all of the stress that is already coming from school, homework only emphasizes that. There should be less homework because it takes up students time, causes a lot of stress, and causes many personal and social problems. A primary reason that students have less free time is that teachers assign an excessive amount of homework. Some students have said “Homework is all I have time for; there’s never…

If you asked me two years ago if I thought homework posed as a benefit I would say absolutely not. After graduating elementary school almost four years ago and starting to get real homework, I would disagree. Although it's not my favorite hobby, it remains very valuable in my life and will continue as a part of my life for quite a while. I believe homework exceeds in benefits and can help you on tests, help you learn to manage time and assume more self discipline and can even influence others. To begin, homework grants awards because it helps you on tests.…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

Homework has been linked to achieving better results and better grades, so why are some schools banning it? Studies have shown the positive and negative effects of homework, and with a moderate amount, the positive effects outweigh the negative ones. Homework should not be banned, as it teaches discipline and time management skills, as well as supplements and accelerates learning. It is also needed in order to meet international education standards. Homework is important for numerous reasons, one of which being that it helps teach time management skills and discipline, especially in young children.…
