Why We Should Not Go To School

Improved Essays
School is a flat out grind, the five day weeks, the endless homework, the lack of sleep, it can be very stressful. In most cases students are required to achieve 13 years of education to obtain a high school diploma. Then they can choose to enter the workforce and earn money or attend a school for specific studies which in most cases they would have to pay to continue. Students should not be paid to go to school, paying students would result in worse education all the way around, also a lack of funds, and providing students with money may support bad habits just makes it plain stupid. First, when I think of paying students to go to school many questions come to mind. So where would that money go would it help or hurt the students

The schools have a purpose to teach the students and prepare them for the upcoming future. The major focus in school is math, science, English, and history. There seems to be a lack on the teaching of values and ethics, the teaching of how life is really like outside of the 4 walled classroom. There is not a class on how to make better life decisions, and how to succeed. Without knowing the difference between right and wrong one is not able to navigate and be successful on the mere education that is provided by the school system.…

In fact, according to Jeffrey Sachs “Currently, only 30% of Americans who start college or university end up graduating, and this represents a huge waste of time and money. If students did not have to work while in school, the graduation rate would improve drastically, and students at universities could graduate in four years instead of six or more years. Additionally, the biggest reason why students drop out of higher education is that they cannot afford the high cost of tuition. Overall, many students are being hopeless, educated workers are decreasing, and graduation rate are decreasing because of college tuition so college should be free. With the number of students going to college increasing, it becomes imperative that student aid funds increase too, so why haven’t they? How come the majority of countries in Europe offer tuition free higher level education, but in America students end up paying $10, $20, to even $50 thousand a year? So although you are not directly giving your money to the colleges, you still would be. Another thing people don’t take into account is that even though college would be free, not everyone would be able to go because there isn’t enough space at colleges for everyone to go. The only foreseeable benefit of free college would be that it would be more selective and the people with true potential could go and even that can be done without making college free. Colleges want to get people who are smart and work hard to come study at their university which is why they give scholarships to students who show these qualities. Also the U.S. Department of Education gives an estimated $46 billion in grants and scholarships in order to make college more affordable.…

School is a necessary system worldwide to invest in a society 's future. The primary argument as to why educational institutions should be free in the U.S. is not to give everyone the equal opportunity to education as stated by Lawrence (a professor of History emeritus at SUNY Albany) although it is one of the reasons, the primary reason is to increase the number of educated workers to hopefully improve our economy. It is stated that an “educated work force has become an essential component of economic growth and competitiveness (Student Aid Alliance). However, college tuition filters out those who are not willing to pay for their education and also funds universities so that they are able to function and upgrade their facilities. College should not be free because it would lead to tax raises, the value of a degree would decline, and the overall quality of the educational environment would decrease.…

Free college/university Studying at a college/university here in the United States can cost a life full of debt. Being able to study should not cost any money. Depending on the college that is attended to, tuition varies, a contributive factor of this tuition is if you’re an in-state or out of-state resident. Most of college students start at the young age of 17 or 18, and most of them don’t have the right knowledge to start getting into economic debt.
