Heart racing, adrenaline rushing, butterflies in the stomach, unsure if the performance will be enough and thumbs are moving, frantically. This is what a person would experience if he were a professional gamer in a tournament. A person would expect these kind of feelings from being an athlete. Not a gamer and this is what seventy-eight percent of the population would expect these emotions as well. Seventy-five percent of people support that video games should NOT be considered a sport and they are right. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary a sport is defined as “ An activity that requires physical activity and has a set of rules that must be obeyed.” This is the biggest reason video games will never be sports. video games are not sports,there is no physical activity required. Many professional athletes and sportscasters feel that if video games became a real sport it would be a disgrace to them and all sports. A sport that has no physical endurance is not a sport. All a player has to do, is move his/her thumbs and that is all a gamer have to do to win. It is sad when human society is actually contemplating about letting such a lazy hobby become a sport. Do not forget that this hobby has many negative side effects. Children and adults should be paying more attention to parents, and school, instead of a game console and a TV. Also sports have been scientifically proven to be better for us by benefiting individuals in many ways. Video games however can do quite the opposite. Their influence puts pressure on kids, decreases academic involvement, and causes vision to become blurred. Video games have a big contribution to child obesity. Video games are not sports for these particular reasons. The bad news is video games just keep getting more and more
