Why We Should Not Be Allowed To Eat In Public Schools

Did you have fast food today? Are you going to have it tomorrow? How about the day after that? Fast food is eaten around the world and approximately 1 in 4 people consume fast food everyday in the United States (“11 Facts About American Eating Habits”). Public schools already serve unhealthy food as it is, but what if it just got unhealthier? If these chains take over, then the original workers would be fired, the food would be even worse, and students may get bored of the repetitive food. Restaurants like McDonald’s and Popeye’s should not be allowed to serve their “food” in public schools replacing the usual cafeteria food and workers.
The workers should not be fired because then the amount of jobs in this country would eminently decrease. Some jobs already have low income that people barely live off of, and it would not be fair if the workers’ jobs were taken away as a result of this fast food decision. Do they not have families to support as well as themselves? Even though the lunch ladies seem a bit on edge, this is only because they are trying to get through their rumbustious day of serving loud students. Students would eat this stuff in the middle of the day and they would not have the vitality to do anything else. Processed, fried foods do not give minors the energy that is an essential to fulfill their everyday lives. Also, this would affect (by most likely decreasing) the amount of physical activity each child does. Younger kids will not know the difference between a regular school burger and a Big Mac. They just eat whatever they can get their hands on. Obesity is already rising by the minute in this country and it’ll get higher, faster if fast food restaurants take over and serve students their food everyday of the school year. The person created the name “fast food” was very smart to add the “s” in “fast.” If not, it would have been “fat
