Why We Should Not Be Allowed To Do Abortion Essay

Abortion is a controversial subject that has been talked about for a long time now. People have very strong opinions towards abortion. Even though this is the case, I believe people should speak about it because it is something that should not be done. Women should not be allowed to perform abortions because they are killing an innocent child and will suffer immediate and long term effects. According to the American Pregnancy Association there are three different types of surgical abortion procedures. Each of them are done depending on the woman’s stage of pregnancy. Whoever is planning to perform an abortion should first get a sonogram to determine if the pregnancy is healthy and to find out how long they have been pregnant. Women should not be allowed to practice an abortion in any state because an innocent child is getting killed. The baby does not have the ability to defend for himself/herself. The baby also did not choose to come in to this world, so it is not fair to kill him/her. Women are not only killing a baby but are also putting their own lives in danger. Any unsafe abortions done can lead to side effects and even worse, death. Women can have physical effects like heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, back pain. As a woman, I would not like to suffer any of those pains. Women who have abortions also suffer psychological effects. They can regret having the abortion and even suffer from depression. Some emotional and psychological effects after an abortion according to the American Pregnancy Association are the following: regret, anger, guilt, shame, sense of loneliness, loss of self- confidence, insomnia or nightmares, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts and anxiety.
