Why We Should Have Year Round School

Imagine having shorter school periods, more opportunities to go on vacation throughout the year, and still going to school the same amount of days you would during a school year with a 2-3 month vacation. With year-round school, it makes this dream possible. There is a debate on whether students should attend school year-round or stick to going to school with a long 2-3 month vacation in between school years. School boards should make the switch to year-round because year-round schooling can help with improving test scores, fixing the problem of overcrowded classrooms, and helping students stay engaged at school.

This makes teachers spend time reviewing something they have already taught, instead of teaching something new. This time would not have to be taken with year-round school because students will not have more than a month out of school. This means they have less time to forget something. The article, “The Benefits of Year-Round School” says, “In another study, students in year-round schools had higher test scores than those in traditional schools.” This shows that students in a year-round school achieved better test scores than students in a traditional school with a long summer vacation. In addition, year-round schools also help with the issue of overcrowding. Many schools struggle with overcrowding and have no solution to this problem. However, year-round schooling can help with this issue. Year-round school students do not have to attend at the same time as other students. This means that not as many students will be in the building
