Why We Should Have Taxes On Junk Food

Do you know that obesity is a major problem in the US? This means that junk food should have a tax on sugary drinks and junk food as they lead to problems like obesity and diabetes. Secondly, health care costs keep rising due to increasing obesity. And finally, the tax can discourage buying and eating junk food. For these reasons, junk food should have taxes.

First, diabetes leads to tons of trips to the doctor and having to have a shot every day. Second, it is very expensive to a family if or you have diabetes. Those who disagree and say that junk food should not have taxes to discourage consumption often mention it’s no one's business but yours what you eat. Unfortunately, this has flaws in that public health is a legitimate public concern and the government needs to help. Can you imagine if you walk into an airport and everyone is obese? That would be disgusting.
