Why We Should Have Shorter School Hours

St. Labre Indian Catholic High School should shorten the class periods to at least fifteen minutes.
Shortening the class periods would benefit the students and teachers because the teachers would not have to go home late at night and the students would get to go home a little earlier than usual.

Because the teachers would have more time to make their lesson plan for the day and the students could use this time as a study hall or go to their teachers that they need help from.
The students could also have time to use the bathroom, go to their

Especially the teachers will have more time to eat without having to rush because sometimes they want to go home.
If we have a longer lunch period they could go home, eat with their lunch with their spouse and come back to school without having to rush because of the half an hour lunch.
When shortening the class periods, I don’t think an eighth period should be included at the end of the day.
Eighth period shouldn’t be included because it’s not necessary, especially if there is an hour long after school study hall for the kids who are required to go to.
Eighth period study hall could be replaced by us getting out at an earlier time than normal.
We could get released at about 3:20 instead of having to get out at 3:50.
Students could go home earlier to see their families, as well as teachers.
Also, if the students are doing extra-curricular activities or sports then they’ll be home at a later time.
If we get out at 3:20, then the students could get home at least a little earlier than usual.
With no eighth period the kids who need to go to after school study hall could go at the end of the day for a hour and will be home earlier still, and they won’t have to stay as late as

This period would specifically be a mix of students with differing interests. During the period, it would be switch between peer work and activities, free periods, and study periods where a teacher is available to ask questions. This would expand the amount of exposure a student has throughout his or her educational career, as well providing a time to focus on studies within class. The period could take the space of frees, seeing that frees are mainly used for socializing and completing work. By doing this, no class time would be diminished, nor will the school day be extended.…

It would also serve to lessen the gap between students and teachers. A point of contention between the two has always been the freedoms allocated to teachers. While it is understood that teachers will always have more freedom, students want what is arguably the most attainable one: the ability to leave campus for their lunch period. It seems hypocritical at best to allow teachers, most of whom also have ‘active’ periods after lunch, to leave without doubting their ability to return in…

I disagree with the school board to add one and a half hours to school each day. This will give us less time to study, homework, and less time to finish projects. Also, for teachers and staff members this gives them not enough time to work an extra hour and a half. Another reason is because you have to pay teachers and staff members extra money. Last, there will be less teachers because they are not payed enough.…

Just by subtracting a small amount of time from each class you could add a large amount of time to study hall, since the classes would only need to be cut by four or five minutes. It is insanely stressful when you cannot complete homework you bring as a result of students worrying about getting in trouble the next day. More work in math, science, and the other subjects will cause students to oppose school. If students are horrified by schools, they will leave school and end up with an upside down future. If kids are our future, then they should come to schools to be educated. This is impossible if the school boards add an additional one and a half hours.…
