Schools Should have Lockers

Today, most students walk to school hoping to get there early so that they can put down

their heavy backpack for a minute and relax, but then the school bell rings, telling kids that their

seven hours of carrying around a heavy backpack starts. You might wonder why school districts

haven’t stopped this and helped the kids. Luckily, there is a solution for school districts which is

having lockers for students. In years past, schools decided to install lockers to help students not

to have to carry around many heavy books. Now many schools have eliminated the use of

lockers. Why stop putting lockers in schools? Lockers can help students be creative as they

design their locker, help students with not having to

A common argument against a later start time is bus tiers. The Morning Edition, an American radio news program, did a segment with a woman named Michelle Trudeau titled “High School Starting Later to Help Sleepy Teens.” She speaks on the effect of school start time and discusses how one of the key roadblocks to changing school start times is the bus tier and extensive transportation scheduling (“High School Starting Later to Help Sleepy Teens”). It is important to recognises this as something people try to use against a later start time, because it is a fair and valid point, but also one that can be overcome. It is a roadblock for a later start time simply because of how intricate and fine tuned a bus schedule is.…

Guns Should Be Allowed On Campus In recent years schools have gotten more dangerous for both teachers and students but by letting guns on campus there would be protection for teachers and students alike. Guns on campus would benefit schools, students and teachers would be safer and not have to fear crazy people coming into schools because no one would try to come into the school if they know that the teachers or students have guns and can defend themselves. “Holders of state-issued concealed handgun licenses should be allowed the same measure of personal protection on college campuses that current laws afford them virtually everywhere else” (Savage). This quote is explaining that if someone goes through the work of getting the concealed…

We have all had one of those days. At 6:30 sharp, your alarm rings incessantly for you to drag yourself out of bed, get your clothes on, and get out bright and early for the bus to go to school. Then, you must find the willpower to stay awake in your morning classes, tests and homework included, until the lunch bell rings. This all happens because of the common school start time of around 7:50, but for some reason many schools, especially middle and high schools, are thinking of bringing this time to 7:15, leaving even less and less time for students to get ready. There may be some reasons why schools may want this, but the negative effects of this decision are undeniable.…

Should schools give in to the demand of later school days? Is it really for the benefit of the students, or benefits of their health? The answer is most students who “struggle” to get up want to put off school for as long as possible, or because they really want to stay up and reach that high score they’ve been yearning. While starting schools later in the day can provide the ability of not being late, it can cause many more problems, to the schedule you’ve been used to, than you think. Later start times gives in to what the students want and not what they need.…

It has become troublesome and confusing to me as to why our local school district would require children in intermediate school (10 to 12 years old) to start school at 7:40 a.m. Please note that this is their start time and doesn’t include their actual wake up time, prep time and travel to school. As I began to research this more in depth I was stunned to find the numerous effects and potential effects in relation to academics, physiological and the emotional distress it could have on students. My wife and I also reached out to other students’ parents and became even more intrigued as that they shared the same concerns and problems they recently were seeing in their own children. I honestly believe when something becomes more personal…
