Why We Should Be Required To Volunteer To Graduate

Some say schools require students to participate in volunteer programs in their communities as a requirement for graduation. There are many different types of volunteer work that students would be interested in. Some types are helping sick people, picking up trash, and helping younger children. Students should be required to volunteer to graduate because it would help the students be a better person along the way, it would also be a good way for students to make friends, and it could help the community.

If students were required to do some type of volunteer work it would help them grow and mature into better adults. Students can learn that helping people can make them feel great inside and help them become a better person all together. When helping someone in any type of way, whether that be a homeless shelter or reading to younger kids, it gives a sense of gratification to both the student and whom they are helping. Volunteering for some students would make them go out of their comfort zone and be around people they wouldn't have known otherwise. Take volunteering at a retirement home for instance, interacting with the elderly would give time for them to learn and listen to their stories. Also offering their time in helping with after school activities would have the student around other kids closer to their age groups, and would allow them to get know one another better and in a different
