Not everyone is an artist or a musician. If students are enrolled in a music, drama, or art class because it is required, it is safe to say that not all of them want to be in those classes. That means they most likely do not have basic knowledge in that academic area due to the fact that the student does not subject themselves to that field by their choice. By forcing all students to take art and music classes a vast majority of them ,inevitably, will learn something they never would have learned had that class not been required. Whether it be calculus or physics there are tons of challenging classes that are often hard to get a good grade in. With a society that is based on the education that has been gained as a student in highschool and college, an excellent gpa is highly recommended. Art and music courses are admittedly fairly easy. A good grade is almost guaranteed if the student gives even the smallest amount of attention. It’s a win win situation taking a required music or art class because students can learn and get a good grade easily. It's easy to see the correlation between good grades and a high gpa which shows having these required classes gives an obvious
