School times can sometimes be absurdly early, but because of later start times some problems stir up. Later school start times can increase grades and the well being of the kids, but the downfall of that is that schools have to pay extra for more buses because usually a district only has a few busses, which then makes the school start times staggered. The first reason that school should start later is because it will allow kids to be more well rested and makes it easier to focus.…

Five or Four Days in School When it comes to our students’ education, we always should pay extra attention to the decisions that we make, especially if the decisions that we’re going to make are weighty and could have an impact on our students’ educational performance. In Jaclyn Melicharek’s article “Four-Day School Weeks: The Rule to Skip School,” she makes several claims against the four-day school policy, which is a convenient policy that seems to pervade our schools nowadays. She believes four-day school policy is ineffective and rather harmful to our students, teachers and staff because it reduces our students’ educational performance, deters the academic value that our students are obtaining and shatter the lives of the teachers and…

Because the majority of schools run on a traditional calendar, the American government runs into huge issues of overcrowding in the public school system. Many new schools and additions onto already standing schools must be constructed every year to keep up with the growing population of students. How Do They Spend It?" by Lisa Blumerman, an article relaying the results of a census conducted by the United States Census Bureau, ¨the US spent $47 billion for construction of schools¨ in the school year of 2009-2010 (Blumerman, Lisa).…

A Relentless Burden Various levels of government, including at the state and local level, impose guidelines on the curriculum for our public schools. The purpose of the curriculum is to establish an equal footing among students for their continued studies for college and the workforce. Homework is incorporated in the agenda and committee teachers impose a minimum requirement every night. With differing amounts in certain areas and days, people question whether a significant amount of homework does more harm than good in our modern societies. (Schaper, 2012) At least one extra month of school would leave the door open to a lot of learning possibilities. Kids leave grade school and are not prepared for what is ahead of them.…
