If college is free professors would basically be doing there job for free. Some students do want to go to college and will pay to go. I feel like if college was free it would be the same like high school the reason I say this it's because some students don't take advantage of the free school opportunity that they have. Everybody would be paying with taxes for this free college. Although people might not have to pay a lot of taxes, that is still more taxes that I personally do not want to pay. Another idea that I liked from the article was how there are programs that help with paying for books. Books, tuition, and living expenses is the main expenses for a college student. If books were cheaper at book stores and tuition was little to none, there would be a lot less student loan debt.…

Some people argue that colleges should not be free because it would waste too much taxpayers’ money. I respect their thinking, but the thinking is incomplete. As taxpayers, we all pay taxes, so we should all have direct benefits. The reason why we pay taxes is to fund all the things what we need in society. Taxes are paid for the police, for the roads and for the social security etc.…

Everyone who lives in America has either experienced or has witnessed the harsh effects that college tuition can create. Students go into higher education experiences and are often forever in debt with the ghastly student loans. With the rates of college tuition continually growing, it has begun to raise the question “Should college be free to students in America?” There are many great reasons why college should be free to those in America. It would create a better educated population, college graduation rates would increase, fewer Americans would seek public assistance after completing school, and it would expose students to a more diverse and understanding lifestyle.…

Education For Everyone Education is something that everyone should be able to have. Knowledge is not something that should be for sale. Everyone should be able to have equal opportunity. This is why there should be no cost for receiving a college education. The general argument made by Carol Roth in the article “Free Community College Isn’t Free...and it’s a Bad Idea” is that saying that college will be free when it really won’t, and it will cause more problems and evidently not solve any current problems.…

For students to understand the investment of an education shows a maturity that they developed by taking out loans. It is required for students to undergo a seminar about loans and how it should be monitored. This helps students understand the real life aspect of adult hood and money management ("Huffington Post" ). If college were to be free, yes students would not have to take out any loans whatsoever but many would not develop the maturity needed for life after college. It is understandable for students to disagree with the argument and refute that college is something that should be free to anyone.…

“If higher education at public schools becomes free, it might appear to devalue a college diploma. It might also lead to students cutting more classes or not trying because they don’t have to “get their money’s worth” when they aren’t paying for anything. The current price of college drives students to complete their schooling as quickly as possible so as to reduce debt. Without that financial drive, we might see more laziness and lackadaisical behavior from our students” (College Raptor). College would just be like high school everyone would go through it to be able to at least get a job.…

They could just raise the standards for people who want to go to college for free. However, this would solve many problems in the world. As well as to make people 's lives easier. “Different nations benefit from this as they are growing a class of people not saddled with debt and therefore are capable of contributing to the economy!” Actually it would help out a lot of those people who always wished they could go to college but couldn’t because they were stuck having to help raise their siblings/help out their parents.…

By making all public colleges free in America it would roughly cost between fifty and thirty billion dollars, which may appear like a mountain of money, specifically taxpayers money; but the government is spending a substantial amount of money on profitable colleges which have extremely low graduation rates (Samuels, 2014). Higher education can be seen to improve the economy immensely. If all 18-24 year olds were enrolled and active in college unemployment would reduce by 2 million people (Samuels, 2014)! A higher educated America would also allow us to become more competitively economically and academically on an international level. Also a more educated work force and educated society would reduce criminal activity, and ensure greater success for the future of America.…

New Republic is opposed to it saying “The main problem with free college is that most students come from disproportionately well-off backgrounds and already enjoy disproportionately well-off futures, which makes them relatively uncompelling targets for public transfers.” Many disagree, saying “College should be free to all students. Just like students have a right to elementary and secondary education, students should have a right to obtain higher education. If a person has a desire to learn more, they should not be forced to stop learning after high school due to a lack of money or connections” (Academic OneFile).
