Imagine there has been a school lockdown, and the suspect cut all the landlines so he thought no one would be able to call the police. However, the suspect was caught much faster than he thought he would be. This last scene would not have been possible a few years ago, such as the year 2000, because cell phones were not very popular in schools back then. When it comes to cell phones at school, some people say they should be banned. Others say they are very useful in schools. I agree with the second opinion for multiple reasons. It can teach students responsibility, it can avoid double standards, the phone can be there in case there is an emergency, it can keep students happy, and it can be a helpful learning aid.

If a student was found playing on their phone, they would have their phone confiscated or their parents would have to come pick them up from school! If administrators are allowed to use their phones, why are students not allowed to? In a case of an emergency, students should be able to have their phone with them to contact a parent or a guardian. For example, if a student forgot their math homework at home, they can ask their parents to bring it to school for them. Another example would be if a student had to type and print an paper, but they forgot to print it, they can have it on their phone to show the teacher that they actually did it on time and they are not lying.
