Literature serves many purposes. We have used it as a source of communication for thousands of years. Stories and experiences, some true and some false, have been passed down through many generations. Literature allows one to communicate their feelings and experiences with another, building upon imagination and expanding intelligence. There are so many reasons why we read literature, but more times than not, it boils down to education. Starting at a young age, we learn to read and write developing skills later used in a career. But literature also has the artistry of wrapping many up, engaging them in a story, only for pure pleasure. No matter the reason why we read it, our world would not be the same without it.
