It is a standard in today’s world to go to college after high school. Starting freshman year of high school everyone is told to start thinking about college and a future career. The question is why? What is the purpose? As years go on, more evidence is found to prove that there is no purpose in higher education. With or without a college degree people are still succeeding in life, so there is no purpose in higher education after high school.
According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, “only about one-third of all jobs require education beyond high school ( ). Many people today can find a job at a fast food restaurant and end up managing the same restaurant in the long run. Now that might not be the ideal job, but one can live and support a family with the necessities of life. Someone without a college degree will not make as much compared to someone with a college

In what sense? Of course, college is there for education, but what about the parties and the social aspect to it. College is a place to experiment and make new friends. For many it is a new-found freedom. Fresh out of high school, no more mom and dad, just a college student facing the world. This could be good, but most the time it is not. Colleges always have dorm parties and social gatherings consisting of underage drinking and sex. This is another reason why college is a waste of time. It is good to have fun but most of the time, when a bunch of young adults get together at a college party it does not end well. Where the purpose of college may be to get a higher education, the social aspect of it can be toxic at times, so staying away from it may be the best bet in the end. Not saying young adults cannot have fun, but not in an area meant for education. People go to college to get an education but behind the scene all the time and money going into this higher education could be a total
