Why Was The Second Industrial Revolution So Successful In America?

The Industrial Revolution Why was the 2nd Industrial Revolution so successful in America? How did it go so well? There are many things that contributed to the 2nd Industrial revolution but I’ll focus on five. The second Industrial Revolution was such a success because of America’s access to natural resources. America had an increased population. America’s transportation systems were very effective. The creative freedom in the US allowed for some amazing inventors. And the favorable government policies helped encouraged industrial growth. The first reason that the US had such a successful Industrial Revolution was because of the natural resources at the America’s disposal. There was an abundance of raw materials in the west that led to industrial success. With all the resources the manufactures need inside America's border, there was no need to import goods and so manufacturers could get the raw materials they need for a cheaper price. Since most of the resources were in the west the settlement of the west helped speed up industrialization. Also a new resource was discovered, petroleum. For example, Thomas Edison was extremely famous. Given credit for inventing the lightbulb, he also made the Phonograph, a device that can record and playback one’s voice, and the electric generator. He had his own laboratory where he also invented the first motion picture and an improved battery. Lewis Altimeter would soon improve Edison’s light bulb with a carbon filament making it last a whole lot longer. Cyrus Field laid a telegraph cable across the Atlantic and Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. Thaddeus Lowe invented the ice machine the basis for the refrigerator and Josephine Cochrane invented the first automatic dishwasher.
