History greatly matters to the United States and affects our everyday lives. One event that is extremely important to Americans was the 13th amendment. This amendment is important because it was the end of slavery. This was able to resolve many problems between the North and South even though there were already many problems in the past facing slavery like Bleeding Kansas. Another event that is important to us Americans is the Appomattox Court House. This event is very important to us Americans because it was the last battle of the Civil War. If this event hadn't happened, the Civil War may have gone on for many months or maybe even years after that. This would have resulted in many more deaths of the Union and Confederacy.
