THE IMPORTANCE OF RONALD REGAN
Ronald Regan is important because he helped restore optimism in America, grow the economy, and brought an end to the cold war.
As the nation’s 40th president, Ronald Reagan was an infectiously optimistic. He gave hope with his optimistic personality at a time where people were afraid of a nuclear war braking out. He even showed optimism and hope when he told the country he had Alzheimer's "When the Lord calls me home, whenever that may be," he said, "I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and eternal optimism for its future. I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead." He was 93 when he died of pneumonia on June 5, 2004.
He was extremely determined in bring an end to the cold war. He didn’t appease the communists or negotiate with them. He had a plan for peace by being stronger then them in every way possible he called it his “Peace through Strength” plan. He cut tax rates lowered inflation and unemployment rates; witch was at 19.99%, and when he left office it had dropped to 9.72%. By the end of his second term the economy was breaking records and benefitting from the longest period of peacetime prosperity without recession or depression. He was a great leader. Reagan once said "The lessons of leadership were the same: hard work, a knowledge of the facts, a willingness to listen and be understanding, a strong sense of duty and direction, and a determination to do your best on behalf of the people you serve."
